Trees @ DePaul

The students at LUFA are working hard on activities that promote and advocate for trees on the DePaul University main campus in Lincoln Park.

DePaul Trees (student group)

In their  own words...
DePaul Trees is a student organization that advocates for urban trees both on campus and throughout the greater Chicago area. Our mission is to increase awareness of the benefits that trees bring to urban areas, as well as to provide more information about the field of urban forestry and arboriculture as a possible career pathway for DePaul students.

Lincoln Park Campus Tree Inventory

In order to manage our urban forest now and into the future, it's important to know 'what we have' now, how this compares to 'what we want,' and then we can get some sense of how we can get there. For DePaul's urban forest, knowing 'what we have' means conducting a complete inventory of all the trees on our campus. Students in the ENV 341 Urban Forests class keep the DePaul Lincoln Park Campus tree inventory up-to-date. Their reports are available below.

Environmental Studies and Geography major Rasa Whittaker worked in 2018 to digitize the paper maps made during the fall 2017 ENV 341 tree inventory. Click below for a digital map of DePaul's trees!
